It plays music but I have yet to hook it up to any decent, low sensitivity speakers. Had an absolute blast and really learned a lot about how tube amplifiers work during the process. But I am inquisitive how the 2A3 Deluxe sounds.
Thank you.
Marius.Mariushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07662576098504529739noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5424814939438798026.post-68747264545641145482016-07-04T11:28:12.789-04:002016-07-04T11:28:12.789-04:00Hi Jeff,

I used the 76 because I was very happy with the sound I got from my 76 + 1/2 6SN7GTB CF line stage combo. Anyway a 6J5 is mainly 1/2 of an early 6SN7.

Stereo or Mono? When I built my SE300B monos almost 20 years ago, audiophile visual analogies like _sound stage_ were still quite vivid in my psyche. Then, it was comforting to know that there was no crosstalk in between channels through a shared power supply.

Fast forward to now, I would build based on what my wallet can afford ;)

Hope this helps!

JEJEhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06428836899267344254noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5424814939438798026.post-61926896193906457852016-06-29T11:35:24.326-04:002016-06-29T11:35:24.326-04:00Hello Joseph. I'm looking to build a 300B SET ...Hello Joseph. I'm looking to build a 300B SET amp and have been studying your circuits for a couple of years. Two questions keep coming to mind:

(1) Have you ever tried a mono block build of the 300B Deluxe using a 6J5 instead of 1/2 a 6SN7? If so, how well did it work, and how did it sound?

(2) All things being equal, do you hear an appreciable difference between the stereo and mono block versions of your 300B Deluxe? I like the smaller parts count and lower cost of a single power supply and using both halves of the 6SN7, but not sure if there's a sonic benefit to be gained from mono blocks.

Thanks!

JeffJeffhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00734393561430314531noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5424814939438798026.post-20435424370316125592016-01-18T20:03:47.456-05:002016-01-18T20:03:47.456-05:00Hi Manuel,

What would I install instead of the volume control? Thanks very much.
